Privacy policy
Last updated November 2, 2026
This policy explains what personal data Mantel collects when you use a Mantel frame, the Mantel website and the Mantel service that lets an AI app draw on your frame. It's written to be read, not skimmed past. If anything is unclear, email us at privacy@mantel.ink.
Who we are. Mantel is provided by Mantel (legal entity name to be confirmed) (“Mantel”, “we”, “us”). We are responsible for the personal data described here.
The short version
- Your screens are private to your account.
- You choose which AI apps can draw on your frame, and you can disconnect any of them anytime.
- Your Wi-Fi password is stored on the frame and is never sent to us.
- We don't send your screens or account data to any AI. The AI you connect sends screens to us, not the other way around.
- No ads. We never sell your data.
What we collect
| Data | What it is |
|---|---|
| Account | Your email address and a hash of your password. We never store your password itself. |
| Sessions | While you're signed in: your IP address and the type of browser you use, so we can keep you signed in and spot misuse. |
| Connected AIs | Each AI app you allow (for example ChatGPT or Claude): which app it is, what it's allowed to do, and the access codes that let it act for you. |
| Frames | Each frame you own: the name you give it and its time zone. |
| Screens | The images your AI sends to your frame, the black-and-white versions we make for the display, and small previews so you can see what's on your frames. |
| Device reports | Basic health information your frame sends: its software version, Wi-Fi signal strength, how long it's been running, and memory use. |
| Network logs | Like any website, our hosting provider records the IP address your frame or browser connects from, and standard details of each request. |
| Messages to us | If you email support, we keep that conversation. |
We don't collect your Wi-Fi password, your location, contacts, camera or microphone data (the frame has no camera or microphone), or the conversations you have with your AI app.
Why we use it
- To provide the service: sign you in, link frames to your account, let the AIs you choose draw on your frames, and deliver each screen to the right frame. (Legal basis where it applies: performing our contract with you.)
- To keep it working and safe: spot frames that are offline, fix bugs, apply rate limits and prevent abuse. (Our legitimate interest in running a reliable, secure service.)
- To talk to you: answer support requests and send essential service messages, like a security notice. We don't send marketing email unless you ask for it.
- To meet legal obligations, when we have to.
We don't use your data for advertising, we don't sell it, and we don't use your screens to train AI models.
Your AI app
Mantel works with AI apps you already use, such as ChatGPT (by OpenAI), Claude (by Anthropic) or any other app that supports connectors. When you connect one, it acts on your instructions: it decides what to draw and sends it to Mantel. Your conversation happens in that app, under that company's privacy policy, on your own account.
Mantel does not send your screens, account details or anything else to any AI provider. What an AI app receives from Mantel is limited to what it needs to act for you, such as the names of your frames and whether a screen was delivered.
Who processes it
- Cloudflare hosts the Mantel service, website, database and file storage. Your data is processed on Cloudflare's infrastructure under its data processing terms.
- The AI app you connect acts on your instructions, as described above.
- Authorities, only when the law requires it, and we'll tell you unless we're legally prevented.
- If Mantel is ever sold or merged, your data would move with it under this policy, and we'd tell you first.
We'll update this list if we add a provider.
How long we keep it
- Device reports: 30 days.
- Screens and previews: 30 days. The screen a frame is showing now is kept until something replaces it.
- Account, frames and connected AIs: until you delete your account. A disconnected AI's access is removed right away.
- Sessions: until they expire or you sign out.
- Network logs: kept by our hosting provider for its standard retention period.
- Support email: as long as needed to help you, then deleted.
Your controls and rights
- Disconnect an AI: on your frames page, anytime.
- Release a frame: on your frames page. This removes it and its screens from your account.
- Delete your account: email support@mantel.ink from the address on your account and we'll delete it and everything in it.
- Access, correct or export your data: email us and we'll help.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our use of your data, and to complain to your local data protection authority. We honor these requests regardless of where you live. We'll answer within 30 days.
Security
Each frame proves who it is with its own key. Your screens are stored privately, and connections are encrypted. No system is perfectly secure; if you find a problem, please tell us at security@mantel.ink.
Children
Mantel isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.
This website
Optional website analytics is off unless we configure it and you choose “Allow analytics.” Declining, closing the choice panel without accepting, or enabling your browser's Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track means no analytics is sent. Use “Analytics choices” in the footer to turn it off later.
When enabled and accepted, PostHog receives page visits on the marketing website, the referring website's domain and campaign source, medium and name labels. We remove other query parameters and URL fragments. We do not collect form contents, account information, recordings, clicks or custom conversion events. Analytics is not installed on the account, claim or device services.
No analytics cookies or third-party scripts are used. This website remembers your choice in local storage for up to 180 days. After acceptance, random anonymous browser and visit identifiers are also stored locally: the browser identifier resets after 30 days; a visit resets after 30 minutes without a pageview or after 24 hours. Turning analytics off removes these identifiers. The identifiers are not linked to your Mantel account. PostHog receives network information such as your IP address when your browser sends an accepted pageview; the project must be configured to discard stored IP addresses before activation.
Our hosting provider sees standard request information, like your IP address, to serve the pages regardless of analytics. Turning analytics off stops future collection; to request deletion of previously collected data, contact us using the address below. Reports cover consenting visits only and may undercount traffic blocked by privacy tools.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you by email before they take effect.
